Types of Card Blocking

At Clara, a card can either be frozen or blocked. While both options temporarily stop card usage, the key difference lies in who can reactivate the card.

What Does It Mean to Freeze a Card?

It’s a quick way to temporarily pause your physical or virtual cards.
You can freeze or unfreeze it yourself through Clara’s platform or app.

Use this option if, for example:

  • You lost your card and want to prevent misuse.

  • You want to pause payments while reviewing expenses.

    .

What Does It Mean for a Card to Be Blocked?

This happens when a manager or admin from your company restricts the use of a card.
You cannot unblock it yourself.
Only a manager or admin can remove the block.

Blocking is usually applied when:

  • The finance team needs to review activity.

  • There are policy or security-related reasons.

  • Fraud is suspected.
    .

What Is a Clara-Initiated Block?

In certain situations, Clara may proactively block a card if we detect signs of potential fraud or risk.

This is a security measure. The block can’t be removed by your team.

👉 Please contact Clara Support if your card is marked "Blocked by Clara."
