At Clara, we aim to make your onboarding process as quick and secure as possible. To move beyond handwritten signatures and stay at the technological forefront, we use credentials issued by the SAT (Mexico's Tax Administration Service) for authentication and tax data consultation for your company.
Here is why we use each one:
1. The e.firma (FIEL): For Signing Contracts
The e.firma (formerly known as FIEL) is your high-level electronic identification issued by the SAT.
We use the e.firma so you can sign our contracts online. It is the legal equivalent of a handwritten signature and ensures that all agreements are formalized digitally and securely.
What is it? A set of files (.cer, .key, and password) that guarantee your legal identity.
What do we use it for? Strictly for the online signing of your contract with Clara.
Useful tip: This is usually managed by your accountant or fiscal department.
2. The CIEC: For Consulting Your Fiscal Information
The CIEC (Clave de Identificación Electrónica Confidencial, or Confidential Electronic Identification Key) is the key that grants access to certain company tax services on the SAT portal.
We require the CIEC to consult your company's fiscal information. This allows us to perform a financial assessment without needing to request annual tax returns, financial statements, or other fiscal files from you.
What is it? The combination of the company's RFC and a password.
What do we use it for? Strictly for the consultation of fiscal information.
Your Security is Our Priority 🔒
We understand that sharing SAT credentials is a sensitive matter. We want to assure you that Clara operates under strict security protocols. All information is 100% secure and encrypted.
You are not sharing sensitive data or files with us. You are performing an electronic authentication procedure.
We do not store passwords: The CIEC is encrypted, and we never have access to the password; it is only used to authenticate the connection with the SAT.
We do not store files: The files and passwords (FIEL and CIEC) are not stored or transferred to Clara. They are only used as direct authentication means with the SAT.
Total Encryption: All your data remains end-to-end encrypted on our platform.
To complete your onboarding process with Clara, it is vital to perform the authentication procedure using the e.firma and CIEC.
