Templates for card creation

Templates let you speed up card creation by using pre-set configurations. They help avoid repetitive manual input and reduce errors.

What is a template?

A template is a saved configuration you can reuse when creating new cards.
It can include:

  • Card type (Virtual, White, or Black)

  • Card alias

  • Credit limit

  • Usage days and frequency

  • Category restrictions

For example, if you need to issue food allowance cards to 50 employees, you can create one template and apply it to each card—no need to configure them individually.

How to create a template:

  1. Go to your Clara account and open the Cards section.

  2. Click the Templates tab.

  3. Select New template +.

  4. Fill in the fields:

    • Template alias

    • Card alias

    • Card type

    • Credit limit

    • Usage days and frequency

    • Optional: category restrictions

  5. Click Create.

How to use a template when creating a card:

  1. In the Cards section, click New card.

  2. In the Template field, choose the template you want to apply.

  3. The form will auto-fill with the template info.

  4. Review and edit as needed, then click Create card.

What’s the difference between a card and a template?
A template is a saved setup to simplify card creation. It helps standardize settings across your team.

Who can create or edit templates?

  • Admins: can create, edit, and delete templates.

  • Managers: can view and use templates for Virtual and White cards, but not edit them.

  • Accountants: can view all templates, but can’t use or edit them.

  • Employees: do not have access to templates.

What happens if I edit a template?
Changes will apply to all future cards created from that template. They won’t affect existing cards.

Can I modify a card created from a template?
Yes. You can edit an individual card without changing the template or other cards created from it.
